Ambassador and Madame visited Sendai to view the Tohoku Rokkon Matsuri

On 17 July 2011, the Ambassador and Madame visited Sendai to view the Tohoku Rokkon Matsuri, meet with Ms. Mieko Okuyama, Mayor of Sendai, and examine Natori City - one of the devastated area of the great earthquake.    

Ambassador hosted dinner for Mr. Pramon Sutivong, Chairman of Toyoto Motor Thailand

On 27 June 2011, H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul and Madame hosted a dinner at the Thai Residence in honour of Mr. Pramon Sutivong, Chairman of Toyoto Motor Thailand, in celebration of his conferment of the decoration, The Order of the Rising Sun of Japan  

H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Ambassador of Thailand, hosted a luncheon at the Thai Residence for Japanese politicians who are members of the Japan-Thailand Parliamentarians’ Friendship League.

Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Ambassador of Thailand, hosted a luncheon at the Thai Residence for Japanese politicians who are members of the Japan-Thailand Parliamentarians’ Friendship League.  The guests include H.E. Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, former Prime Minister, Mr. Masahiro Komura, former Foreign and Defence Minister, Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki, former Chief Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Koriki Jojima, Ms. Chinami Nishimura, and Mr. Taro Kono.

Thai Fight Extreme press conference and “YAMADA ~The Samurai of Ayothaya~” premiere

On June 14, 2011, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul and wife, head officers of Thai government offices and the Royal Thai Embassy’s officers attended Thai Fight Extreme Press Conference and “YAMADA ~The Samurai of Ayothaya~” premiere at Shinjuku Meiji Yasuda Life Hall. Following the opening speech by the Ambassador, statements by H.E. Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, former Deputy Prime Minister and Chair of the Tournament Organizing Committee, and Mrs. Panatda Chennavasin, Vice President of Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Co., Ltd. and the main sponsor, were given.  A number of Thai boxing fighters from both Thailand and abroad including Buakaw Por. Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) Cheque Sharing Ceremony

On 24 June 2011, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, along with spouses of Thai diplomats,attended the “Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) Cheque Sharing Ceremony” held at the Embassy of Pakistan. In the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador of Pakistan as well as Mme Aumaporn, Chairperson, made remarks, followed by a slide show of photos taken by some member countries when they conducted disaster relief activities in theTohoku region.   Each member country received the equal sum of proceeds from donations made to the ALFS and profit from ALFS’s charity activities. Many member countries, however, decided to donate their money to Japan, which was adversely affected by the earthquake.

Thai Cultural Festival 2011

Minister Singtong Lapisatepun gave an opening speech at the Thai Cultural Festival 2011 held at Ueno Park during 11-12 June 2011. The Royal Thai Embassy’s stringed instruments band also performed Thai music at the venue. The event was organized by the International Thai Cultural Exchange Committee and International Thai Dance Academy, which introduced a variety of Thai performances and culture.

Ambassador attended Commencement and Farewell Reception at Meiji University

On May 27, 2011 H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul and Minister Singtong Lapisatepun visited Meiji University and attended Commencement and Farewell Reception as 9 students from Thailand’s Srinakharinwirot University had completed their exchange program. After paying a courtesy visit to Mr. Hiromi Naya, Meiji University’s Chancellor, the Ambassador and Minister visited the university’s museum as well as observing a seminar.

Shutoku Junior High School students visited the Royal Thai Embassy

On June 7, 2011, nine students from Shutoku Junior High School, Tokyo, visited the Royal Thai Embassy as a part of their curricular field trip.After watching Thai musical instrument performance and Thailand tourism DVD, the students asked the embassy staff about the country.  

Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Minister, led a pediatric team from Thailand to call on Mrs. Makiko Kikuta Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs

On  3 June 2011, Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Minister, led a pediatric team from Thailand; consisting of Dr. Suthipong Pangkanon, a pediatrician, and, Mrs. Kim Sakulnoom, a registered nurse; to pay a courtesy call on Mrs. Makiko Kikuta, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of their completion of mission on providing medical supports to victims affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami in Fukushima prefecture.
