2013.01.08 Minister gave special lecture at Tokyo Gakugei University Senior High School
On 8 January 2013, Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Minister, gave a special lecture to the students at Tokyo Gakugei University Senior High School, a national prestigious school with a long history. The lecture was about his experience during his school dayห and Thailand-Japan relations. The support that the two countries gave to each other during the hardship from disasters was an evidence for their true friendship.For many years, Tokyo Gakugei University Senior High School has accepted Thai Government scholarship students and played an important role in promoting Thailand-Japan relations.
2012.12.13 “KETSUMEISHI” representatives presented new CD album to Embassy
On 13 December 2012, Mr.Yasunori Takeda, Senior Manager, and Mr. Katsuya Yamaga, Head of AC Unit, Artist and Repertoire Department 2 of Avex Entertainment Inc., paid a visit to Ms. Pakvipa Aviphan, Head of Information Affairs Department of the Royal Thai Embassy. The representatives presented her “Ketsunopolis 8” CDs, the latest album of KETSUMEISHI, the band that adores Thailand and has traveled to the country for its album photo shoot. The Thai number “๘” (8) is also used in this album’s name. The band “KETSUMEISHI” was formed in 1993 and has been performed by four members since 1996. The pop / hip hop band is very popular in Japan with more than 14 million copies of its CDs and DVDs sold in total. In this album, the track “ASIA” was composed by the band’s inspiration from the power and motivation of Asian people, including the Thai. The representatives said that all members of “KETSUMEISHI” are willing to cooperate in activities that aim at strengthening Thailand and Japan relations. On 18 December 2012, nine grade-six-students from Tsurugashima City’s Sugishita Primary School in Saitama Prefecture visited the Royal Thai Embassy. After a briefing on Thai culture and world heritage in Thailand by Embassy staff, Ms. Pakvipa Aviphan, First Secretary, answered questions from the students.The embassy visit was a part of their study trip to Tokyo.On 18 December 2012, nine grade-six-students from Tsurugashima City’s Sugishita Primary School in Saitama Prefecture visited the Royal Thai Embassy. After a briefing on Thai culture and world heritage in Thailand by Embassy staff, Ms. Pakvipa Aviphan, First Secretary, answered questions from the students. The embassy visit was a part of their study trip to Tokyo.
2012.12.18-19 Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary General of the UNCTAD won Grand Prize of the 1st Asia Cosmopolitan Awards
On 18-19 December 2012, H.E. Ambassador Thanatip Upatising and his spouse, together with Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Consul-General in Osaka, attended the 1st Asia Cosmopolitan Awards Ceremony in Nara Prefecture. The Award is established by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and Nara Prefectural Government in 2012. The Grand Prize was awarded to Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). On this occasion, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, also presented a keynote speech on “Future of Asia”. Apart from attending the said Award Ceremony, the Ambassador also paid a courtesy on Mr. Shogo Arai, Governor of Nara Prefecture on 19 December 2012. Both sides discussed on the prospect of cooperation between Thailand and Nara Prefecture in particular, the cultural promotion between Nara Prefecture and Sukhothai Province.
2012.12.20 Ambassador presented the Letter of Credence to His Imperial Majesty
On 20 December of 2012, H.E. Mr. Thanatip Upatising presented the Letter of Credence from His Majesty the King of Thailand appointing him as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Japan to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. H.E. Mr. Hiroyuki Nakahama, Minister of the Environment of Japan, as the Minister of Attendance, and the Royal Thai Embassy diplomats also present at the ceremony.
