On 14 June 2012, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul hosted a luncheon at the Residence for Mr. Yoji Matsuura, Managing Director of the Juroku Bank, Gifu Prefecture, and Dr. Chakrit Suwannachote, Chief Representative of Kasikorn Bank, Tokyo Office. Minister, Minister of the Economic and Investment Affairs Office and Minister-Counsellor of the Economic and Financial Affairs Office also attended.
On 5 June 2012, Mr. Okas Teparagul, Chairman of Thailand’s National Economic and Social Advisory Council, led members of the Working Group on Infrastructure, Transportation and Energy of the council who visited Japan on their field study trip during 4-9 June 2012, to pay a courtesy visit on Minister Singtong Lapisatepun at the embassy. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Toshihiro Yamakoshi, Director of the Office of Project Development, Railway Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). In this occasion, the Minister gave a briefing on Japan’s energy policy issue, while Mr. Yamakoshi gave a lecture on the system of Shinkansen, Japanese bullet train, to the group.
On 12 May 2012, the dignitaries including H.E. Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, former Prime Minister of Japan and President of Japan-Thailand Parliamentarians’ Friendship League of Democratic Party of Japan, H.E. Mr. Kazuyuki Hamada, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as H.E. Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, attended the opening ceremony of the 13th Thai Festival at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo.The Festival is now Tokyo’s biggest annual event with visitors of 350 thousand within 2 days during 12-13 May 2012.On 12 May 2012, the dignitaries including H.E. On 7 June 2012, Mme. Aumaporn Futrakul, Ambassador’s spouse, organized an event for 9 members of Kasumi Kaikan, in which she introduced how to prepare Thai dishes, Spicy Glass Noodles Salad with Seafood, Chicken in Coconut Milk Soup with Galangal and Green Curry with Prawns to the participants.
On 5 June 2012, the Embassy organized a special lecture to introduce Thailand to some 400 elementary school students at Taimei Elementary School in Tokyo. The lecture included showing of introduction DVD, PowerPoint presentation, as well as demonstration of Thai music and dance.
H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul lectured on the topic “Thai Economic Trend in 2012 and Disaster Recovery from the Great Flood” to more than 100 Japanese participants at the 2012 Annual General Assembly of Hiroshima-Thailand Association on 18 May 2012. The Ambassador also exchanged views and opinions with Thai people living in Hiroshima and representatives of Japanese companies who attended the meeting.
On 29 May 2012, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul and his spouse hosted a lunchoen in honour of delegates from the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) who came to Japan to attend the 22nd Meeting of Japan-Thailand Joint Trade and Economic Committee with Keidanren on 28 May 2012.The heads of BOI and Finance offices in Tokyo were also present at the event.
On 26th May 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul gave an opening speech at the “Thai Festival in Nagoya 2012”. The 8th Thai Festival in Nagoya was held at Hisaya Odori Park in Nagoya during 26-27 May 2012 by the Thai Festival in Nagoya Executive Committee and Yamamori Inc. The Royal Thai Embassy was a special sponsore and held exhibition on “125th Anniversary of Japan-Thailand Diplomatic Relations”to inform the Nagoya people and nearby area of the good relation between Japan and Thailand.
On 15 May 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, the Ambassador’s spouse, welcomed 30 participants of the “Royal Thai Embassy Tour” organized by the Mitsukoshi Bus Travel, an extra activity of Mitsukoshi Department Store Headquarter in Nihonbashi. The briefing about the Residence’s history and presentation of a video clip on Thai tourism and cuisine were given. The participants were also explained about “Songkran”, the Thai traditional New Year, which they then tried its water-pouring ceremony. Discussion was made during lunch afterwards.
On 12 May 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul, delivered a speech on the occasion of Wesak Day held by the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association at Sakura Hall, Shibuya Culture Center Owada. The ceremony included flower offering to Buddha images, slideshow on the significance of Visakha Bucha Day and praying.
