On 26th May 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul gave an opening speech at the “Thai Festival in Nagoya 2012”. The 8th Thai Festival in Nagoya was held at Hisaya Odori Park in Nagoya during 26-27 May 2012 by the Thai Festival in Nagoya Executive Committee and Yamamori Inc. The Royal Thai Embassy was a special sponsore and held exhibition on “125th Anniversary of Japan-Thailand Diplomatic Relations”to inform the Nagoya people and nearby area of the good relation between Japan and Thailand.
On 15 May 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, the Ambassador’s spouse, welcomed 30 participants of the “Royal Thai Embassy Tour” organized by the Mitsukoshi Bus Travel, an extra activity of Mitsukoshi Department Store Headquarter in Nihonbashi. The briefing about the Residence’s history and presentation of a video clip on Thai tourism and cuisine were given. The participants were also explained about “Songkran”, the Thai traditional New Year, which they then tried its water-pouring ceremony. Discussion was made during lunch afterwards.
On 12 May 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul, delivered a speech on the occasion of Wesak Day held by the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association at Sakura Hall, Shibuya Culture Center Owada. The ceremony included flower offering to Buddha images, slideshow on the significance of Visakha Bucha Day and praying.
On 10 May 2011, the Royal Thai Embassy, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Finance of Thailand, held the “Kizuna Concerto” to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Thai-Japan diplomatic relationship. The concert was performed by more than 100 members of Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra at Sumida Triphony Hall, Tokyo, where H.E. Kittirat Na Ranong, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Finance delivered an opening speech to the event. Dr. Suchart Wongtong, a well-known watercolor artist, also demonstrated his painting skills during the performance. The event was attended by the audience of more than 1,300, who were impressed by the collaboration of classical and traditional Thai musical instruments, as well as the arranged famous Japanese tune.
On 28 April 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul gave an opening speech at the Thai Fair, at Aeon Lake Town Shopping Mall in Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture. The 4-day-fair, from 27-30 April 2012, aimed at promoting Thai products, food, and culture to the Japanese. Fruit carving demonstration, Thai massage, traditional dance, as well as Thai classical music by the Embassy’s Royal Thai Ensemble were also provided at the event.
On 1 May 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, Ambassador’s spouse, attended the Ikebana International 10th World Convention 2012 at Hotel Grand Pacific Le Daiba. Arranged Thai orchid was exhibited at the event.
On 1 May 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, Ambassador’s spouse, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 12th Annual World Gardening Fair at Hotel Okura, Tokyo. Thailand presented its garden under the theme “Countryside-scenery Peaceful Houseboat”.
On 22 April 2012, members of International Ladies Association of Buddhism, led by Mme. Aumaporn Futrakul, spouse of the Ambassador, joined Thai Buddhist rituals at Wat Paknam Japan. The group visited the Ubosot which was build according to Thai traditional design, prayed, provided a meal for the monks and bathed Buddha images.
On 18 April 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, spouse of the Ambassador, joined the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) Festival and Charity Bazaar held at ANA Intercontinental Hotel Tokyo. Participants enjoyed a variety of cuisine, exotic traditional products and dances from 26 countries in Asia and Oceania. Thailand’s booth also received many visitors.
On 29 March 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasaki Futrakul hosted a dinner in honour of Mr. Michihisa and Mme. Keiko Kitashirakawa, Chairman of Kasumi-kaikan, and other members at the Ambassador’s Residence.
