On 17 October 2019, Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag was bestowed a Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan through H.E. Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
On 11 October 2019, Ambassador presides over the ceremony in remembrance of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The activities are comprised of a wretch laying ceremony, a Buddhist merit-making ceremony and a lighting of candles to commemorate the demise of the Late King. Apart from the Embassy staff, more than 100 of Thai people living in Japan also participated.
