On 8 February 2018, Team Thailand won the grand prize of the 45th International Snow Sculpture contest at the 69th Sapporo Snow Festival at Odori Park, Sapporo. The team comprised of 3 professional ice sculptures who created "Gai Chon" (Thai fighting cocks) sculpture to win the competition.
On 6 February 2018, CAPT. Pitoon Chechana, Naval Attache' led Rear Admiral Daisuke Kajimoto, Commander, CTF 151 to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag upon his assumption of the duty of commanding counter-piracy forces in Bahrain. Combined Task Force 151: CTF 151’s mission is to disrupt piracy at sea. The Royal Thai Navy has also joined forces with CTF 151 in this mission.
