10.23 Worship and Wreath-Laying Ceremony on King Rama V’s Memorial Day

On 23 October 2012, Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Chargé d’affaires and his spouse led the representatives from Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Osaka together with the Head of Thai offices in Japan and the representative of Honorary Consulate-General in Nagoya to attend the worship and wreath-laying ceremony on the occasion of King Rama V’s memorial day at Nittai-ji Temple, Nagoya, Aichi prefectureNittai-ji, meaning Japan-Thai Temple, is the symbol of the long relationship and Buddhism relations between Thailand and Japan. It was constructed as a memorial on the occasion that King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) gave the relics of Buddha Sakyamuni and the Buddha statue to Japanese Buddhists in 1900. Many members of Thailand’s Royal Family often came to the temple when they visited Japan. In 1987, the temple constructed the King Chulalongkorn’s statue to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan. 10.18 27th ASEAN Japanese speech contest winners – speech and reception

10.20 5th Thailand-Japan International Academic Conference 2012

10.18 Hokkaido Obihiro Sanjo High School students visited Embassy

On 18 October 2012, eight students from Hokkaido Obihiro Sanjo High School visited the Embassy. The group was welcomed by Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Chargé d’Affaires, who then gave a briefing on Thailand-Hokkaido relations and answered questions from the students.  The Embassy staff talked about Thailand and its culture using Power Point.Such visit was a part of the students’ study trip in Tokyo, which was introduced by the Goi Peace Foundation.
