03.29 Thai Students’ Association in Japan paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador

On 29 March 2012, the 72nd and 73rd Executive Boards of the Thai Students’ Association in Japan paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul and report him on the outcome of their activities in Year 2011. The Ambassador also guided them in running activities in the present year.

03.16 Media Relations Trainees paid a courtesy call to Minister

On 16 March 2012, Minister Singtong Lapisatepun gave a briefing about Japan to 45 trainees of Media Relations of Batch 38, led by Mrs. Tuanchai Sindhuvanich, Deputy Director of PR Technical Development Office. The group was on its field study in Japan during 15-19 March 2012.

04.12 Songkran Festival at the Thai Residence to introduce traditional New Year celebrated in some Buddhist countries in Southeast Asia.

 On 12 April 2012, Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, Ambassador’s spouse, held a Songkran Festival at the Ambassador’s Residence to promote Thai culture and its traditional new year.  Songkran’s history and celebration were introduced to the guests, where they enjoyed the taste of Thai traditional new year through a variety of activities such as Buddha images bathing, pouring water over the elder’s hands, building sand pagoda, and Thai traditional dance and music.Mrs. Haruko Komura, ALFS President, ALFS members, and spouses of ambassadors to Tokyo attended the event. 03.23 Ambassadors lecture on Thailands Economy after the Great Flood.

On 23 March 2012, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul, gave lecture on the topic Thailands Economy after the Great Flood at a seminar organised by Research Institute of Economic, Trade & Industry (REITI) at the Ministry of Economic, Trade & Industry (METI). At the lecture, Ambassador gave updates on the recovery from the flood disaster in Thailand and information on concrete measures against future flood as well as partnership opportunities with Japanese government and business opportunities for Japanese private sectors.About 60 Japanese participants from various fields attended the seminar. 03.21 Ambassador hosted lunch for FEC

On 21 March 2012, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul hosted lunch for representatives from the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) at the Thai Residence.Mr. Norio Yamaguchi, Chairman of the Board of Ajinomoto Co., Inc., who led the FEC delegation to Thailand, along with Mr. Yoshihiko Nakagaki, Corporate Advisor & Former President of Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-Power), as well as Ambassador Hiroyuki Yushita, Advisor of FEC delegation, came to report the outcome of their mission to Thailand and Myanmar in February 2012. Heads of economic offices of the Embassy were also present at the meeting. 03.16 Phra-ajahn Mitsuo Gavesako delivered a sermon at the Residence

On 16 March 2012, Rev. Mitsuo Gavesako, the Abbot of Sunandavanaram Temple, Kanchanaburi Province, delivered a sermon to the Embassy’s officers led by H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul and his spouse, at the Residence.

03.16 GSDF Staff College visited the Ambassador

On 16 March 2012, Major General Suthat Kanchananonkul, Commander in Chief of General Staff Defense Force (GSDF) Staff, along with GSDF officials and students, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul at the Thai Residence. The delegation visited Japan during 10-17 March 2012 to exchange experiences on national defense affairs.

02.27-28 Ambassador paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of Naha Chamber of Commerce

On 27-28 February 2012, H.E. Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul visit Okinawa Prefecture. During his visit, the Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Mr. Yukikazu Kokuba, Chairman of the Naha Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed ways and means to bilateral economic cooperation as well as strengthen mutual cooperation between Thailand and Okinawa in the field of tourism and spa industry. The Ambassador also met with Mr. Takeshi Sakumoto, the Honorary Consul of Thailand in Okinawa and Thai communities during his visit.

03.22 NHK Culture Center’s third visit to Thai Embassy

On 22 March 2012, 35 members from NHK Culture Center, Aoyama Branch, were welcomed by Mme Aumaporn Futrakul, Ambassador’s spouse, and the embassy staff at the Residence.  After briefing about Thai Residence, Thai culture and Thailand-Japan relations, the audience watched a Thailand tourism DVD, Thai traditional dance and music performance.  The Embassy also prepared Thai cuisine and traditional handicraft for them to enjoy Thai uniqueness.

02.15 Dinner for Mr. Shozaburo Jimi and the delegates

On 15 February 2012, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul and spouse hosted the dinner for H.E.Dr. Shozaburo Jimi, State Minister for Postal Reform and Financial Services, his family, and other guests from Kita-Kyushu at the residence.
