2013.07.09 Tokugawa Museum donated for restoring Ayutthaya’s cultural heritage temples

... properties.  Wat Sala Poon and Wat Chang Yai, two old temples in Ayutthaya, one of Thailand’s World Heritage sites, were granted restoration assistance by the foundation.  The donation will be made through Fine Arts Department, Ministry of Culture of Thailand. The foundation has assisted in restoring cultural properties domestically and internationally, to preserve historical documents, handicraft and antiques.  Last year, the Temple of Dawn also received the grant to repair its 23 Buddha images.

Thanatip Upatising to deliver 3-million-yen donation and Mrs. Tokugawa’s individual donation of 1 million yen for restoring Wat Sala Poon, an old temple in Ayutthaya.  The donation will be made through Fine Arts Department, Ministry of Culture of Thailand. The foundation has assisted in restoring cultural properties domestically and internationally, to preserve historical documents, handicraft and antiques.  In 2012, the Temple of Dawn received the grant to repair its 23 Buddha images and in 2013, Wat Sala Poon and Wat Chang Yai in Ayutthaya received a million-yen donation for its restoration.

Minister-Counsellor (Labour) partake in Songkran Festival in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture

... assigned Mr.Saichon Akanitvong, Minister-Counsellor (Labour), to partake in Songkran Festival in Kawagoe city, Saitama prefecture. The group of Thai people in Saitama acted as a committee in this event. The activities in this event include bathing the Buddha, offering scented water to the respected ones for blessings, and performing Thai traditional dance in front of the picture of King of Thailand and the Emperor of Japan. These were meant to celebrate the new era under the King and the Emperor. There were a lot of Thai and Japanese people participating this event.

Ambassador presided over the wreath laying and religious ceremony on the occasion of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day

... Chulalongkorn Memorial Day at Nittaiji Temple in Nagoya city, Aichi Prefecture. There were more than 40 people including the Thai officers and Thai citizen in Japan participate in the ceremony. The Nittaiji Temple is one of the symbols of Japan-Thailand long friendship. It was established in 1904 to enshrine the holy remains of the Buddha which was donated to Japan by King Chulalongkorn. In 1987, the statue of King Chulongkorn was built in front of the Dhamma Hall within the Temple in remembrance of his contributions.
