Guidelines for applying a visa during the periods of COVID - 19

· Before applying all types of visa, please read carefully the Embassy's announcement at http://site.thaiembassy.jp/en/news/announcement/

· A valid re-entry permit holder does not need to submit a visa application .
· Please make visa appointments via http://vabo.thaiembassy.jp/vabo/

· For application of visa at the Royal Thai Consulate - General in Osaka, please check further information at https://fukuoka.thaiembassy.org/en/index

· The Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, the Royal Thai Consulate - General in Osaka , Fukuoka and the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate - General in Nagoya reserve the rights to request additional documents and to reject an application without providing any reasons.
In case that visa application is rejected, the application fee will not be refunded and submitted documents will not be returned to the applicant.
· For application of a Non - Immigrant Visa, please make sure that the invitation and recommendation letters correctly address to the office that you plan to submit a visa application to. i.e. To the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, or to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka or to the Royal Thai Consulate - General in Fukuoka, or to the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Nagoya.

· Application Visa Fee : (Cash only. Please prepare exact amount.)

o Diplomatic / Official Visa (D / F) : Single entry : Gratis

o Non - Immigrant Visa (B, O, ED, M) : Single entry : 9,000 Yen

o Non - Immigrant Long Stay Visa (O - A) : Multiple entries : 22,000 Yen

o Non - Immigrant Long Stay Visa (O - X) : Multiple entries : 44,000 Yen

o Tourist Visa (TR / TR - MT) : Single entry : 4,500 Yen

o Special Tourist Visa (STV) : Single entry : 9,000 Yen

o Smart Visa ( 1 Years) : 44,000 Yen

o Smart Visa ( 2 Years) : 88,000 Yen

o Smart Visa ( 3 Years) : 135,000 Yen

o Smart Visa ( 4 Years) :180,000 Yen

o Thailand Elite Visa 1) Privilage Entry PE

· Diplomatic / Official Visa (D / F) : Single Entry

o Validity of entry : 90 days

o Length of stay permit : 90 days

· Non - Immigrant Visa (B, O, ED, M) : Single Entry

o Validity of entry : 90 days

o Length of stay permit : 90 days

· Non - Immigrant Long Stay Visa (O - A) : Multiple Entries

o Validity of entry : 1 Year

o Length of stay permit : 1 Year

(Holder of Non - Immigrant long stay visa O-A will obtain multiple entries with validity of 1 year. The visa holder can submit an application to extend the stay permit for additional 1 year at the Office of Immigration Bureau.)

· Non - Immigrant Long Stay Visa (O - X) : Multiple Entries

o Validity of entry : 5 Years

o Length of stay permit : 5 Years (total 10 years)

(Holder of Non - Immigrant long stay visa O-X will obtain multiple entries with validity of 5 years. The visa holder can submit an application to extend the stay permit for additional 5 years (total 10 years) at the Office of Immigration Bureau.)

· Tourist Visa (TR / TR - MT) : Single Entry

o Validity of entry : 90 days

o Length of stay permit : 60 days

· Special Tourist Visa (STV) : Single Entry

(Special Tourist Visa (STV) programme is provided for long stay tourists who are travelling from low COVID-19 risk countries which is determined and regularly reviewed by the Public Health Ministry of Thailand (the list will be updated based on assessment of COVID-19 situation in respective countries on the dates of 15 and 30 of each month).As of 1 November 2020, Japan is not under low COVID-19 risk countries. Therefore, travelers from Japan are not able to enter Thailand under this programme. Kindly monitor the Embassy’s announcement for future update on this programme. 
STV programme enters into force from 2 October 2020 and will last until 30 September 2021.

o Validity of entry : 90 days

o Length of stay permit : 90 days

(The STV holder can submit an application to extend the stay permit for not more than two times(90 days each) at the Office of Immigration Bureau. The STV holder is not able to change the type of visa. In the case that visa application is submitted near the ending period of the STV programme (i.e. 30 September 2021), the STV holder will only be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for not more than 2-3 months and not be able to extend the stay permit.)

· The permitted length of stay is specified by the stamp of the Immigration Bureau on the passport, from the date of arrival in Thailand. Please carefully note the immigration stamp in passport to avoid overstaying.

· Extension of Stay Permit in Thailand

o Please apply for a stay permit at the Office of Immigration Bureau http://www.immigration.go.th. The extension of stay permit is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

· Upon the completion of 90 days stay period in Thailand, foreigners must notify the Immigration Bureau of their residence in Thailand and shall repeat this process every 90 days.

· Return of passport policy and processing time

o Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo: 2 working days, (After submitting the application, if no additional document is requested, the passport with visa will be sent from the Embassy by post on the next day (pay delivery fee upon delivery)

o An applicant is requested to fill in the Return Envelope provided by the Embassy.

o For Group of 5 applicants or more, please prepare a “LETTER PACK PLUS” envelop (520 Yen, red color) for returning passports

o For applicants holding passports of Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Congo , Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Algeria, China, India , Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Central African Republic, Somalia, Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia , North Korea, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, the visa issuance process requires 2 - 60 working days.

o Nigerian national requires additional Clearance Certificate by NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) in Nigeria, certified by Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and legalized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria.

· Conditions for Appointing a representative to submit a visa application:

o Please submit (1) a power of attorney duly signed by both Grantor and Grantee, (2) photo ID, and (3) copy of passport which is certified true copy. For sample of power of attorney form, click here.

o An applicant may appoint a representative to submit a visa application to the Embassy for these visa types:

1) Diplomatic / Official Visa (D / F)

2) Non - Immigrant Visa B (Working)

3) Non - Immigrant Visa O (Spouse / dependent of foreigner legally works in Thailand)

4) Non - Immigrant Visa B (Conducting of business / attending a meeting for a short period)

5) Tourist Visa - TR

o For applying a Visa in no. 2), 3) and 4) above, a representative must be a Japanese who has been working in the same company or company group. The representative must prepare a name card for the Embassy.

o For applying a Visa in no. 1) and 5) above, a representative must be a Japanese or an appointed authorized staff from concerned organization. The representative must prepare a name card or a copy of a staff ID. for the Embassy.

· The embassy does not allow an applicant to appoint a representative to submit all types of visa application for passport holders as follows :

Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Algeria, China, India,Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Central African Republic, Somalia, Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan

· The embassy does not allow an applicant to appoint a representative to submit a visa application for these visa types :

1) Non - Immigrant - B Visa (Teaching)

2) Non - Immigrant - O Visa (Spouse or Dependent of Thai Citizen)

3) Non - Immigrant - ED Visa (Education)

4) Non - Immigrant - O Visa (Parents/Guardians of Student)

*5) Non - Immigrant - O Visa (Medical -Treatment)

6) Non - Immigrant - M (Media/Journalist)

7) Special Tourist Visa - STV

8) Non - Immigrant Long Stay Visa O-A (1 Year)

9) Non - Immigrant Long Stay Visa O-X (10 Years)

10) Non - Immigrant Visa O (Pensioner / Retirement)

11) Tourist Visa TR-MT (Medical Treatment)

   * Non - Immigrant O Visa (Medical -Treatment), a representative may be accepted subjected to the Embassy's consideration.
