Validity of entry Non-immigrant-O visa :

  • Single entry : Three (3) months
  • Multiple entry : One (1) Year

Application Fee :

  • Single entry : 9,000 Yen
  • Multiple entry : 22,000 Yen

Applicant must apply in person.

Applicant's spouse or applicant's immediate family member must legally work and acquire permission for stay in Thailand.

Applicant is not allowed to perform works in Thailand

Non-Japanese applicant holding passports of  Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Cameroon, Congo, Republic of Congo , Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Algeria, China, India , Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Central African Republic, Somalia, Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia (latest updated:2015.11.30)The visa's issuance will take from 10 to 30 working days. 

Visa and administrative processes for applicant holding passport of North Korea, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan generally takes thirty (30) days.  

Only Japanese citizens can request for passport(s) to be returned by mail.  

The embassy may require an interview, please plan your trip with sufficient time for visa processing.



Documents required are as follow :

  1. Valid passport. (valid for no less than 6 months)
  2. Application form duly filled in and signed by the applicant.


  • Form available on this page can be filled out.
  • Please enter the information requested into the appropriate spaces on the form. Your answer must be in English and use English capital characters.
  • The Embassy recommends you use an ink-jet printer to print the completed application form. However, the written application form is accepted but it may cause delay during the visa application process at the counter.

  1. Two (2) color photos of applicant (size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.)

    *** Three (3) color photos and three (3) copies of application forms duly filled and signed for applicants holding passports ofAfghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Cameroon, Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Algeria, China, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Ghana, Central African Republic, Somalia, Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia

    Four (4) color photos and four (4) copies of application forms duly filled and signed for applicants holding passport of Nigeria and Iran.

  2. For non-Japanese applicant, a copy of resident card or certificate of alien registration which is valid at least 3 months or more. For those who are currently applying for renewal of residence card, please submit a copy of acceptance of renewal issued by Immigration Bureau of Japan. The applicant is also required to present the original documents of identification upon visa application.
  3. Airline ticket or confirmation slip with applicant's name, flight number as well as date of entry and departure.
  4. Personal history duly filled in and signed by the applicant.

  1. An original letter of invitation from company / employer in Thailand where the applicant’s spouse or applicant’s immediate family member works for.

    PDF, copy or fax is not accepted.

    *** The letter must be in the company's letter head and contain the applicant's name, purpose of visit to the Kingdom, date of entry, length of stay and type of visa required and name of employee and his or her relation with applicant, signed by the authorized person(s) whose name(s) listed in the company's registration issued by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.

    *** In the absence of signature of authorized person(s) in the letter of invitation, a letter of power of attorney authorizing other person(s) to act on his/her behalf must be submitted upon visa application.

  2. An original / copy of company's registration documents issued within six (6) months by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.
  3. An original letter of recommendation from the current employer / company where the applicant's spouse or applicant's immediate family member belongs in Japan.

    PDF, copy or fax is not accepted.

    *** The letter must be in the company's letter head and contain the applicant's name, purpose of visit to the Kingdom, date of entry length of stay, type of visa required and name of employee and his or her relation with applicant, signed by the authorized person.

    *** In the absence of letter of recommendation from the current employer / company in Japan, an original guarantee letter must be presented together with a copy of guarantor's passport or driving license duly signed by the guarantor.

    *** A guarantor must be twenty (20) years of age or older, legally residing in Japan, must be able to confirm aspects of applicant's personal attributes such as name, age, physical description and some personal information and must be available to be contacted by the Embassy.



*** For the applicant holding passport of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Cameroon, Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Algeria, China, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Ghana, Central African Republic, Somalia, Sao Tome and Principe, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia an original company's registration (tokibotohon) must be submitted together with an original letter of recommendation upon visa application.

  1. An original household registration documents (kosekitohon) issued within three (3) months by the competent authority of Japan.
  2. Copies of every page of passport of the applicant’s spouse / the applicant’s immediate family member who currently works in Thailand. 

11.1 Applicant for single entry visa must present a copy of stay permit of the applicant's spouse / the applicant's immediate family member. Such stay permit must be valid for not less than ninety (90) days.
11.2 Applicant for multiple entry visa must present a copy of stay permit of the applicant's spouse / the applicant's immediate family member. Such stay permit must be valid for not less than one (1) year.

12. Other supporting documents of business associates / company / prospective employer in Thailand. The Embassy may require : 

  1. list of shareholders
  2. license of company operation
  3. statement of income tax and business tax (Phor Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30)
  4. value-added tax registration (Phor Ngor Dor 20)
  5. financial report and balance sheet
  6. map indicating the location of the establishment
  7. list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions.

    These documents must be duly signed by the authorized person(s) whose name(s) listed in the company registration documents and affixed the company seals.

    13. The Embassy may require documents in foreign language to be translated into Thai or English. Such documents must also be certified by competent authority of Japan or country where the documents are issued.
