On 4 August 2021, representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy in Japan participated in “OMOTENASHI” Cooking Legacy Project. This online food-tasting event was jointly organised by the Headquarters for the Promotion of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games under the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan, Happo-en Tokyo Restaurant, and Host Town authorities.
The organizers and the participating Host Towns gave a brief overview of the project and ideas behind each dish which was specially created by each Host Town. The Embassy’s representatives were invited to taste the assorted dishes, which were delivered to the Embassy beforehand. It was a truly enjoyable culinary experience. They were all very tasty and pleasing to the eyes. Each menu used local famous ingredients. This also shows that Thai food can be cooked with Japanese ingredients.
The Royal Thai Embassy would like to thank the organizers and the Host Towns for the Thai teams, namely, Saga Prefecture, Kanoya City of Kagoshima Prefecture, and Odate City of Akita Prefecture, for this wonderful experience.
