The Royal Thai Embassy participated in the Kathin Ceremony at Buddharangsee Temple, Tokyo

On 31st October 2021, Mr. Somsak Vivithkeyoonvong, Minister-Counsellor (Agriculture), paticipated as the Chairperson of the Kathin Ceremony at Buddharangsee Temple, Tokyo. Other representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Team Thailand attending the said event included
Ms. Prangtip Kanchanahattakij - Minister, Ms. Kanakporn Chotipal -Minister (Economic and Investment), Ms. Sadudee Kittisuwan - Minister-Counsellor (Labour), Ms. Ketsuda Mongkolchart - Counsellor (Labour) and Ms. Pattamawadee Aueareechit - Counsellor (Consul).

The Kathin Ceremony is an annual religious event where Buddhists present monks with new yellow robes and make a merit after the ending of the Lent period. At this event, the Embassy offered the temple a donation along with Covid-19 protection equipment such as facial masks, antigen test kits and Oximeters. Moreover, the Embassy also provided a number of health-caring books and Kanji handbooks for Thai nationals living in Japan so that the temple would distribute them among Thai community in the area. The Ceremony was attended by approximately 500 Thai and Japanese Buddhists.
