Ambassador presented a trophy at the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament 2022.

On 23 January 2022, H.E. Ambassador Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, attended the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament 2022 at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan. The Ambassador presented the Thailand-Japan Friendship Cup to Sumo Champion MITAKEUMI from Nagano prefecture who won the highest division of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.
The presentation of the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to the winner of Grand Sumo Tournaments held in Tokyo started in 2017 when Thailand and Japan celebrated their 130th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations.
Besides Thailand, Ambassadors and representatives from other 7 countries, namely, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Mexico, Mongolia, and the United Arab Emirates, also attended the Tournament to present certificates and trophies to the Champion.
