The Embassy organised a Buddhist merit making ceremony and prayers for Former Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag.

On 13 March 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy, presided by H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, organised a Buddhist merit making ceremony and prayers for Former Ambassador Bansarn Bunnag at Imboon Thammaram Temple, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo. The ceremony was participated by officials, Team Thailand, the Embassy’s staff and Thai community living in Japan.

During nearly 4-year term in Japan, Ambassador Bansarn devoted his efforts to promote close and friendly ties between Thailand and Japan. He also outreached to the Thai community in Japan to provide protection and ensure well-being of Thai citizens living in Japan. His endeavours in strengthening bilateral ties at all levels were widely respected by various sectors in Japan, as reflected by an overwhelming number of condolences letters the Embassy has received. His compassion also made him so well loved by the Thai community, as well as the Embassy’s officials and staff.

Ambassador Bansarn’s early passing on 6 March 2022 was shocking. The Royal Thai Embassy wishes to express our deepest condolences to his family and would like to honour his unforgettable devotion and kindness. May he rest in peace.
