24/06/2022

On 24 June 2022 H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, hosted a dinner for the Thai community in Sendai, including Thai residents, Thai students and academia in Sendai at Thai Rak Thai restaurant. 13 people attended the luncheon.

The luncheon was held during Ambassador’s visit to Sendai City to pay a courtesy call on the Governor of Miyagi Prefecture and to attend the General Meeting of Sendai-Thailand Economic Friendship Association and Thai Festival in Sendai.

Ambassador Singtong expressed his appreciation to the Thai community in taking their time to meet with the Embassy. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 situation, the Embassy had not had an opportunity to outreach the Thai people in different parts of Japan over the past few years.

Ambassador enquired about the well-being of the Thai people in Sendai, especially during the earthquakes and natural disasters in Tohoku area. He stressed that the Embassy always stands ready to assist all Thai residents in Japan. He also informed the Thai community of the Embassy’s contact channels, including its Hotline number, Facebook and website.

Ambassador encouraged the Thai community in Sendai to form a group in order to strengthen the Thai community and to be the point of contact for the Embassy in time of emergencies or disasters, which will enable the Embassy to render assistance in a timely manner.

There are 373 Thai people living in Miyagi Prefecture, including 174 people in Sendai. In that number, 53 are Thai students in Tohoku University.
