Ambassador held discussion with Executive Vice President of Tohoku University

On 24 June 2022, H.E. Mr. Sing tong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, met with Professor UEKI Toshiya, Executive Vice President of Tohoku University, along with executive members and Thai professors at the Tohoku University. This visit is part of the Ambassador’s business trip to Sendai City to strengthen local-to-local relations between Thailand and Japan in various fields.

The Executive Vice President of Tohoku University emphasised the close relationship between Tohoku University and Thailand. In fact, the University opened its Bangkok office in 2016 to build network among educational institutions in Thailand and ASEAN, including maintaining strong connection with its alumni. The Ambassador praised Tohoku University for being selected as the best university in Japan and was pleased to see a good number of Thai professors and students there, especially those with expertise in disaster science which could lead to further cooperation with international communities.

Currently, there are 4 Thai professors and 23 Thai students in Tohoku University. Most of them are in engineering, material science, environment, and dentistry fields.
