Ambassador held discussion with Governor of Miyagi Prefecture

 On 24 June 2022, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, met with Mr. MURAI Yoshihiro, Governor of Miyagi Prefecture. This visit is part of the ambassador’s business trip to Sendai City to strengthen local-to-local relations between Thailand and Japan and to join the resumed Thai festival in Sendai held first time after the COVID-19 situation.

 The Governor expressed delight towards the good relations between Miyagi Prefecture and Thailand, including the Thai Festival in Sendai which has been held for 10 years which helps raise awareness of Thailand to local people. The Ambassador gave a glimpse of Thai investment in Miyagi Prefecture, which concentrates in solar energy, and highly hoped that the Governor will lend support to the Thai investors whose business are in line with Japan's Carbon Neutral policy. The Ambassador also sought support from the Governor regarding further relaxation of Japan’s border measures to restore tourism between the two countries to its former level.
