Ambassador hosted a luncheon in honour of Professor Emeritus KONDO Junko, Princess Srinagarindra Award Laureate in 2019.

On 1 July 2022, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, hosted a congratulatory luncheon in honour of Professor Emeritus KONDO Junko, a laureate of the Princess Srinagarindra Award in 2019 at the Thai residence. Japanese and Thai Nurses and midwives were invited to the luncheon to jointly celebrate this occasion.

Professor Emeritus KONDO Junko, aged 90 years old, is a visionary Japanese nurse leader who has devoted her life-long career to advance nursing and midwifery education and profession in Japan, Egypt and many countries in Africa. She was a founder of modern midwifery practice in Japan. She also made significant contributions to the development of academic administration in Japan.

Professor Emeritus KONDO is the third Laureate of Princess Srinagarindra Award from Japan, after Professor MINAMI Hiroko and Miss NOHNO Chieko in 2004 and 2013 respectively. The Princess Srinagarindra Award is in recognition of Her Royal Highness The Late Princess Srinagarindra Mahidol, the mother of His Majesty King Bhumibol. Throughout her lifetime, HRH made an exemplary contribution to the advancement in the field of nursing education and profession as well as midwifery.
