Mayor of Sendai paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador.

On 13 July 2022, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, welcomed Mrs. KOHRI Kazuko, Mayor of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture at the Royal Thai Embassy.

Mrs. KOHRI thanked the Ambassador for attending the Thai Festival in Sendai on 24-25 June 2022. The Ambassador took the opportunity to congratulate Sendai City on the success of organising the Festival and expressed the Embassy’s continued support for the event.

The two agreed to jointly promote tourism exchange between Thailand and Sendai. They also discussed the possibility of resuming the direct flight between Sendai and Bangkok.

The Ambassador informed Mrs. KOHRI that for the Japanese tourists, traveling from Japan to Thailand is very convenient as neither quarantine nor visa is required for 30-day stay period. As Japan is a favourite travel destination for Thai people, it is hoped that in the near future Thai tourists can also travel to Japan conveniently as well.
