Ambassador attended the Fukushima Revitalization Reception

On 25 July 2022,H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, attended the Fukushima Revitalization Reception at Happo-en. The reception was held to express gratitude towards Japan’s friendly nations who have removed restrictions on food imports from Fukushima and to provide updates about progress on restoration. Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. UCHIBORI Masao, Governor of Fukushima Prefecture, also attended the reception.

In his speech, the Governor of Fukushima mentioned Thailand in particular as one of the first countries to resume imports of peaches from the prefecture. The latest development is that the United Kingdom has recently removed restrictions on food imports from Fukushima. The event attracted attention from around 150 diplomats. The food served at the event were also made from local ingredients.
