08/09/2022

On 8 September 2022, Mr. Thanan Marukatat, a representative of the Government of Thailand who is currently seconded to the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, at the Royal Thai Embassy.

As a research fellow at APERC, Mr. Thanan introduced himself and explained about APERC's role under the APEC framework. Both sides also exchanged views on APEC's role in advancing the Thai economy, the energy situation in Thailand and Japan, and Thai investment in Japan’s energy sector.

APERC was established in July 1996 in Tokyo, pursuant to the Action Agenda adopted by the APEC Economic Leaders at the Osaka Summit in November 1995. The Government of Japan agreed to host the Centre. Since its inception, Thai experts have taken over this research position on a rotating basis.
