On 10 October 2022, Mrs. Porndee Lapisatepun, spouse of the Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, organised a Thai fruit and vegetable carving workshop for the members of the Small Interest Group (SIG) on Flower Arrangement (Ikebana) of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) at the Thai Residence.
As the foreign embassy side coordinator for ALFS' SIG on Ikebana this year, Mrs. Porndee hosted this event to providean opportunity for ALFS members, both Japanese and spouses of foreign diplomats, to learn more about the art of Thai fruit and vegetable carving and to combine the Thai technique with the Japanese Ikebana flower arrangements. During the workshop, a JapaneseIkebana instructor demonstrated how to adapt Thai fruit and vegetable carving pieces into Japanese Ikebana flower arrangements then put into practice by the participants.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador, also gave a welcoming speech and hosted an afternoon tea for the participants after the event.
