On 17 January 2023, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, together with Ms. Kanokporn Chotipal, Minister (Economic and Investment), and the Embassy staff, visited Nissan Motor Corporation in Kanagawa Prefecture for EV test drive.

Mr. TAGAWA Joji, Senior Vice President, warmly welcomed the delegation and both sides exchanged views on the development of the EV industry in Thailand, including battery production. Mr. TAGAWA expressed Nissan’s appreciation towards the Thai government for continued support over the past 70 years. He introduced the e-power Nissan Kicks(hybrid)car which is produced in Thailand and exported worldwide including to Japan. Nissan Kicks grabbed the highest market share of B-SUV segment in Thailand. The Ambassador reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to working closely with Nissan to advance the EV industry and encourage Nissan to start Battery EVs (BEVs)production in Thailand which has already been approved by Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI).
