19/12/2022

On 19 December 2022, Kanda University of International Studies and the Royal Thai Embassy co-organised the 15th Thai Speech Contest at the Millennium Hall of Kanda University of International Studies. This year's competition was attended by 10 participants from four universities, namely Kanda University of International Studies, Keio University, Osaka University, and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

This year's Thai Speech Contest was the first held in three years due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mrs. Saisarn Nagatsuka, Minister-Counsellor (Education), gave an opening remarks on behalf of the Embassy. She also joined other 3 representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in the judging panel for the contest.

The outstanding prizes were awarded to Ms. NAKATA Fuko, a fourth year student, and Ms. KUBONO Kanako, a third year student, both from Kanda University of International Studies. The prizes include cash prize from the Embassy and round trip air tickets from Tokyo-Bangkok-Tokyo, sponsored by Thai AirAsia.

The Embassy is very pleased that many Japanese students showed interested in learning Thai language and that all participating students were enthusiastic in developing their Thai language skills. The Embassy is determined to continue to support Japanese students to further practice Thai language and hope that they will have opportunities to use it in their daily life and career in the future.
