On 27 February 2023, Mr. Romdej Phisalaphong, Minister Counsellor, attended a Reporting Session of the Japan Friendship Ties Program “JENESYS2022 ASEAN-Japan Youth Leaders Exchange” at Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel, Tokyo. The programme was organised by the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE). From total 117 participants from ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste and Japan, ten of them were Thai university students and graduates namely (1) Ms. Khantamatn Praprakhon; (2) Ms. Pattranit Kongsaenkam; (3) Mr. Chatuphon Tangjai; (4) Mr. Chaiwat Surakhamhaeng; (5) Ms. Assaneeya Srisawat; (6) Mr. Ponthakorn Sirisuthivoranant; (7) Mr. Worrawit Wonglek; (8) Ms. Naruthai Thongmee; (9) Mr. Chaloemkiat Yapolha; (10) Ms. Sirin Angsuwattana. Mr. TAKAMIZU Hidero, Director and Ms. SAKURAI Emi, Deputy Director from Regional Cooperation Division, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, MOFA were also present at the event.
JENESYS 2022 participants took part in an online webinar titled “Japan-ASEAN relationship for 50 years” and visited Japan from 22 to 28 January 2023. They participated in workshops about tourist destinations waste management, fake news on the Internet, labor shortage in agricultural sector, income inequality, and urbanization problem. The students also learned about Japanese culture as they visited many historical places including Senso-ji temple in Tokyo, Osaka castle in Osaka, Tenryu-ji temple in Kyoto, Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine in Fukuoka and Tomioka Archive Museum in Fukushima etc.
Minister Counsellor advised the students to make best use of knowledge gained from this programme, make friends with fellow students and keep in touch with them.
