On 27 May 2023, H.E. Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, and his spouse, together with the Embassy’s officials and staff, participated in the opening ceremony of FUJI Thai Camp 2023 at the Fumotoppara Campground, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The Royal Thai Embassy also exhibited a booth titled BCG House in order to provide information about Thailand’s BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) economy model at the event.
The Fuji Thai Camp was organised for the first time through the collaboration between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Guzen Co., Ltd. during 27 - 28 May 2023 at the Fumotoppara Campground. The event aimed to attract Japanese campers to experience Thailand's natural tourism. It is a unique glamping style festival under the theme of Thai Temple Fair (Ngan Wat) in front of Mount Fuji. The activities of the Fuji Thai camp included a Long Table featuring Kra-prao (Kra-Prao rice dish) and Moo-Ping (grilled pork), Thai massage demonstration, fruit carving and krathong (lotus-shaped floats) making workshops and an open-air movie.
The event was initiated by Mr. Hiro Sano, president of Guzen Co., Ltd. and a well-known host of travel programme "Sukoi Japan," who has been living in Thailand for over 20 years. With a desire to pay back to Thailand, he collaborated with the TAT and partner organizations to organize this event to celebrate the 136th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations. The event aimed to invite Japanese people to explore Thainess and Thailand through the camping experience.
