Minister attended public relations activities in Nagano City, Nagano prefecture

On 17-18 July 2023, Mrs. Prangtip Kanchanahattakij, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, representing the Royal Thai Embassy, attended town-promoting activity in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, upon the invitation from the Nagano Convention and Visitor Bureau.

During the visit, Mrs. Prangtip paid courtesy calls on Mr. OGIWARA Kenji, the Mayor of Nagano City, and Mr. SEKI Shoichiro, the Vice Governor of Nagano Prefecture. They exchanged views on the development of relations between Thailand and Nagano Prefecture. She also visited the "Marukome" Company, which is famous for producing miso and various seasonings. The company exports products to all over the world, including Thailand, and owns Kojibijin cafe that sells drinks from fermented koji rice (amasake) in 6 locations in Thailand. The Minister also visited Zenkoji Temple, which has a longstanding relationship with Thailand. The temple houses a Buddha image in the posture of Maravichai, which was gifted from the Royal Thai Government as a symbol of the 50th anniversary of Thai-Japanese relations.

Furthermore, Mrs. Prangtip explored more of Nagano City by taking the Rokumon Train Line from Karuizawa Station to Nagano City and visited the area nearby Tokakushi Shrine, a famous natural tourist attraction and a popular hiking trail among hikers.
