On 4 June 2023, Ms. Prangtip Kanchanahattakij, Minister, attended the Thai New Year Songkran Festival 2023 in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture on behalf of Ambassador. The festival was organized by the Group of Thai in Saitama. There were honorable guests who attended, such as Mr. KAWAI Yoshiaki, Mayor of Kawagoe City, along with Deputy Mayor of Kawagoe City, Director of Culture and Sports, Director of the International and cultural exchange division of Kawagoe City, Mr. HARA Toshinori, President of the Saitama-Thailand Friendship Association.

The event features various Thai cultural activities including “Song Nam Phra” - the pouring of water on Buddha images, “Rod Nam Dam Hua”- the ritual of pouring scented water over the hands of elders to ask for blessings, “Ram Thai” - Thai traditional dance performances, and Thai massage demonstration. Numbers of Thai and Japanese attended the event.
