Young Ambassadors of Yachiyo City visited the Embassy

On 12th January 2024, Mr. Ryoji Fukai, Deputy Mayor of Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, and Young Ambassadors of Yachiyo City visited the Royal Thai Embassy. Ms. Sirimon Atipatya, Minister Counsellor, and Ms. Patamon Panchavinnin, Counsellor, briefed Deputy Mayor and the said Young Ambassadors on Thai culture and Thailand – Japan relations.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration of Thailand and Yachiyo City have engaged in cultural exchange since 1989. Every year, the Young Ambassadors from each respective country exchanges visit each other every year. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the program, the two entities signed a memorandum on exchange of education and culture in 2008. However, the exchange visits had been suspended since 2020 due to the Covid - 19 pandemic. The program was revived 3 years later. In May 2023, a group of Young Ambassadors from Bangkok visited Yachiyo City, and in return, a group of Young Ambassadors from Yachiyo City will visit Bangkok on 17 - 24 January 2024.
