The Defence and Air Attache presented a trophy at the 2024 January Grand Sumo Tournament

On 28 January 2024, Group Captain Naruth KAMNERDNAKTA, Air Attache, attended the 2024 January Grand Sumo Tournament at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan, on behalf of the Ambassador. The Air Attache presented the Thailand - Japan Friendship Cup to Mr. Haruo TERUNOFUJI, a Sumo Champion from Mongolia who won the highest division of the 2024 January Grand Sumo Tournament.

The presentation of the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to the winner of Grand Sumo Tournaments held in Tokyo started in 2017 when Thailand and Japan celebrated their 130th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations. Other countries that presented sumo champions include the Czech Republic, United Arab Emirates, Hungary, China, Mongolia, Bulgaria, Italy, France and Mexico.
