Ambassador and spouse visited Aichi prefecture

During 16-18 May 2024, H.E Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, and his delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy, Tokyo, visited Nagoya in Aichi prefecture, to strengthen the ties and cooperation between Thailand and Aichi prefecture.

The Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Governor of Aichi and Mayor of Nagoya and exchanged views with them on how to promote closer Thailand-Japan relations. He also had meetings with President of the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce, President of Denso Corporation, President of Noritake Co.Ltd., President of Nagoya University, and the Chief Abbot of Nittaiji Temple, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in relevant, respective areas. Furthermore, the Ambassador attended the 17th Thai Festival in Nagoya, which took place on 18-19 May 2024, as one of the honorary invitees.

Thailand and the Aichi prefecture have had a long-time relationship, with 4,000 Thais living in Aichi prefecture and over 480 companies from the prefecture investing in Thailand. The Nittaiji Temple in Aichi prefecture houses the Lord Buddha’s relics that King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) of Thailand gifted to Japan’s concerned authorities in 1900.
