Ambassador presented a trophy at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament 2024

On 26 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, the Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, attended the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament 2024 at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan and presented the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to Onosato, the sumo champion who won the highest division of the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament.

The presentation of the Thailand-Japan Friendship Trophy to the winner of Grand Sumo Tournaments held in Tokyo started in 2017 when Thailand and Japan celebrated their 130th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations. Other countries that presented sumo champions include the Czech Republic, United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Mongolia, Bulgaria, United States of America, China, France and Mexico.
