On 4 July 2024, Ambassador Witchu Vejjajiva and Mr. Kittiphan Bangyikhan, Minister Counsellor, Office of Industrial Affairs of the Embassy, visited Nippon Steel Corporation facility in Kimitsu City and Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture. Mr. Ichiro SATO, Senior Managing Executive Officer welcomed Ambassador and the team and introduced the blast furnace and research and development facility.
During the visit, the delegation learnt about Test Furnace for Super COURSE50 which is a technology that uses heated hydrogen to reduce CO2 emission commissioned by NEDO, and Waste Plastic Recycling Facility. The two sides also discussed future cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to work closely together. Nippon Steel has been investing in Thailand since 1963 and has been contributed to maintain steel supply-chain in Thailand. It is the largest steel company in Japan and the fourth largest in the world.
