Ambassador attended Welcome Dinner hosted by Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly Japan-Thailand Friendship League

On 11 July 2024, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, attended a welcoming dinner hosted by Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly Japan-Thailand Friendship League at Minato Mirai Yokohama. In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Hiroaki SHIKIDA, Chairman of the League, expressed his appreciation to the Royal Thai Embassy for continuous support and cooperation, and expressed the League’s readiness to serve as a bridge to further enhance the Thai-Japanese relations. Mr. SHIKIDA also shared that he was very impressed when he learned about efforts by the youth in Klong Toey community to raise fund in order to help Japanese people who were affected by tsunami in 2011. The news served as Mr. SHIKIDA’s inspiration to establish the League.

In this connection, the Ambassador expressed appreciation to the League for its constructive and active role in bringing about tangible benefits for Thai-Japanese relations. This includes the successful donation of firefighting equipment from the Yokohama Fire Department to Duang Prateep foundation, a Thai NGO, in June 2023. Additionally, the Ambassador expressed readiness to further collaborate in deepening and strengthening Thai-Japanese relations in all dimensions, including economic, tourism, and education.

Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly Japan-Thailand Friendship League was established in June 2012, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan.
