President of Japanese Association in Thailand called on Ambassador

On 14 August 2024, Mr. SHIMADA Atsushi, President of Japanese Association in Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan. Mr. SHIMADA briefed Ambassador Witchu on the Association’s activities in the years 2023-2024, including the 50th Charity Bazaar which raised funds for charitable organisations in Thailand. The Ambassador and Mr. SHIMADA also exchanged views on promoting people-to-people ties and enhancing economic cooperation between Japan and Thailand, particularly on the current investment situation, and promoting Japanese investment in Thailand as well as Thai investment in Japan. 


The Japanese Association in Thailand is the oldest and largest Japanese association abroad. Founded in 1913 and will celebrate its 111th anniversary this year. It has over 4,875 individual members and 496 corporate members (as of June 2024). Since its establishment, the Association has played a significant role in supporting the living of Japanese people in Thailand as well as promoting cultural exchanges between Thailand and Japan.
