On 5 October 2024, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, gave remarks at the opening ceremony of the Japan-Thailand Cultural Festival 2024 at the Nittai-ji Temple, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, at the invitation of Mr. MIWA Yoshihiro, Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Nagoya, who delivered his speech at the Honorary Chairman of the apan-Thailand Cultural Festival Committee. Other distinguished participants included Venerable MURAKAMI Enryu, representating Sangha of Kakuozan Nittai-ji Temple as the Chairman of the Japan-Thailand Cultural Festival Committee, and Mr. KAWAMURA Takashi, Mayor of Nagoya City.
In his remarks, Ambassador Witchu emphasised the need to further strengthen Thailand – Japan relations characterized by its long-standing, close and cordial, and multi-faceted cooperation. He admired and pledged the Royal Thai Embassy’s support to the Festival annually organized at the Nittai-ji Temple which has long served as a symbol of Thailand – Japan historical ties. The Japan – Thailand Cultural Festival has also helped promote mutual appreciation and people-to-people cooperation between the two countries through various cultural activities.
The Japan-Thailand Cultural Festival 2024 took place on 5 - 6 October 2024 with over 22,000 visitors coming to enjoy and appreciate Japanese and Thai cultural performances, food and other products, such as Japanese tea ceremony, Japan’s contemporary dance, the demonstration of Muay Thai, and Thai traditional dance. With the support of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Nagoya, the Royal Thai Embassy organised a booth introducing the multiple uses of "Thai Herbs and Spices," not only in the renowned Thai cuisine and culinary tradition but also in beauty products, medical supplements and health care.
