Ambassador attends the Kawagoe Festival

On 19 October 2024, at the invitation of Kawagoe City, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, attended the Kawagoe Festival in Saitama Prefecture and was welcomed by Mr. KAWAI Yoshiaki, Mayor of Kawagoe City. On this occasion, Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Mayor for his support and assistance given to Thai tourists and Thai nationals residing in Kawagoe City. Ambassador also met with a group of the Thai Community in Saitama. He commended the group for being good citizens of Japan and actively supporting Kawagoe City’s many activities while promoting cultural cooperation between Thailand and Kawagoe City.

The Kawagoe Festival, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2016, is a unique annual event that has passed down and been held in the same manner since the Edo Period.
