On 3 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. AKAMATSU Ken, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and LDP Member of the House of Councilors, Aichi Prefecture, to express his gratitude for Mr. AKAMATSU’s active cooperation with the Embassy in various activities over the past year.
On this occasion, Ambassador Witchu and Mr. AKAMATSU discussed ways to further promote mutual appreciation and understanding between Thais and Japanese through cultural exchanges, particularly in the areas of pop culture, in the lead up to the 140th anniversary of Japan - Thailand diplomatic relations in 2027. In this connection, Ambassador Witchu introduced Thai festivals held annually all across Japan as a venue that helps strengthen Thailand-Japan people-to-people ties while also creating ample business opportunities between the two countries. He also invited Mr. AKAMATSU to consider taking part in the Thai Festival in Tokyo this year, which will take place on 10 - 11 May 2025.
Mr. AKAMATSU is also a renowned cartoonist. As MEXT Parliamentary Vice Minister, his portfolio covers the matters concerning culture, science and technology.
