Mayor of Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture pays a courtesy call on Ambassador

On 7 March 2025, Mr. KUSACHI Hiroaki, Mayor of Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, at the Royal Thai Embassy, in order to introduce the City and discuss potential cooperation with Thailand. Also present at the meeting were Ms. Chawanis Chawanawong, Minister Counsellor, Mr. Kittiphan Bangyikhan, Minister Counsellor (Industrial), and officials from the Embassy.

Ambassador Witchu and Mayor KUSACHI agreed to promote potential cooperation including agricultural technology and smart farming, automotive and parts industry and its transition from ICE to EV, employment opportunity for Thai laborers in manufacturing and service sectors as well as exchanges in sports and tourism. They also discussed the possibility of a future visit to Iwata City by the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand to strengthen economic collaboration, learn good practices from Iwata City’s many strengths, and explore new areas of cooperation.
