Ceremony to Receive a Buddha Statue Graciously Bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand

21/03/2025

On 21 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, presided over the ceremony to receive a Buddha statue graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the Embassy’s Hall. The ceremony was attended by officials of the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand in Tokyo, along with their spouses.

The Buddha statue, crafted from metal in the "Pang Leela" (or walking posture), was consecrated in a Buddhist ceremony presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 22 July 2023 at Wat Suthatthepwararam Ratchaworamahawihan in Bangkok. Her Royal Highness graciously bestowed this sacred Buddha statue upon various organisations in Thailand and abroad. The Buddha statue also represents Her Royal Highness’ benevolence and well wishes for peace, prosperity, and protection from calamity for Thailand’s key institutions (nation, religion, monarchy) and the Thai people as well as all mankind.
