11/03/2025

On 11 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, welcomed the visit to the Embassy of the Honourable Mr. FUKUDA Tomikazu, Governor of Tochigi Prefecture. Both sides discussed ways to promote cooperation between Thailand and Tochigi Prefecture in areas such as industry, agriculture, and tourism. They also exchanged views on strategies to support automotive parts manufacturers in their transition to new industries amidst the growing global competition in the automotive sector. As Tochigi Prefecture is a major automotive manufacturing hub of Japan, Thailand can learn from the Prefecture’s experiences and best practices.

On this occasion, Ambassador Witchu congratulated Governor FUKUDA on his re-election for the sixth consecutive term. The Ambassador also expressed his determination to continue the close partnership between the Embassy and Tochigi Prefecture, including the mobile consular services for Thais residing in Tochigi Prefecture and the organisation of the Thai Festival in Utsunomiya. The Ambassador also sought the Governor's support on the issue of visa exemption and extension of stay for Thai tourists so that many more of them could come to enjoy the beauty of Tochigi Prefecture.
