On 24 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, together with Mr. Akrapong Chalermnon, Consul-General in Osaka, attended the opening ceremony of the Thailand Pavilion at the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (EXPO 2025). The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health of Thailand, and graciously attended by Mr. Chai Wacharong, Thai Trade Representative, senior executives from the Ministry of Public Health, and Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige, Secretary-General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.
The Thailand Pavilion is located in the “Connecting Lives” zone with the theme “THAILAND: Connecting Lives for Greatest Happiness.” The pavilion showcases the concept of “Poompiman – Land of Immunity”, highlighting Thailand’s wisdom, innovations, and capabilities in health and wellness on the global stage. The official mascot of the pavilion, “Nong Poomjai,” was inspired by the Thai mythical creature “Maeng Si Hu Ha Ta” (four-eared, five-eyed animal), which was purposely designed to complement the official mascot of the host, “Myaku-Myaku”.
EXPO 2025 will be held over a period of 184 days from 13 April to 13 October 2025, on Yumeshima Island in Osaka.
