On 10 May 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, presided over the opening ceremony of the 25th Thai Festival Tokyo at Yoyogi Park, Tokyo. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, delivered his welcome remarks and H.E Ms. IKUINA Akiko, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan gave her remarks on behalf of the Government of Japan. The ceremony was well-attended by approximately 200 guests including H.E. Mr. NIKI Hirobumi, State Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan; and H.E. Mr. AKAMATSU Ken, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan; Ambassadors and members of diplomatic corps, representatives from Japanese government agencies, private sector, prefectural-level Japan-Thailand Friendship Associations, friends of Thailand, media and influencers.
The Royal Thai Embassy in collaboration with Japanese private partners as the co-organiser of the 25th Thai Festival Tokyo organised the 25th Thai Festival Tokyo from 10 - 11 May 2025 under the theme “Creative Thailand” to showcase both traditional and new elements of Thainess developed through local wisdom, creativity, and innovation as well as their contribution to Thailand’s economic growth and new business opportunities. The Royal Thai Embassy also hosted the exhibition in line with the theme on five selected sectors, namely entertainment, gaming, Muay Thai fashion and design. Moreover, the Embassy in cooperation with the Creative Economy Agency brought ten promising Thai entrepreneurs to present their products at the Festival.
This year’s Thai Festival witnessed an increasing number of participating businesses and exhibitors, with a total 159 booths including Thai food, beverages, fruits, goods and services, supermarket and booths from Team Thailand agencies. Moreover, stage performances were also well-received, featuring both traditional and contemporary Thai arts and culture, such as Thai classical dance and music, Muay Thai, performances from renowned Thai artists, and a Thai fabric fashion show from “ablankpage.” The Festival received positive feedbacks from both visitors and exhibitors and welcomed more than 260,000 people over the two days.
