Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Visits Japan to Preside Over the Thai National Day Ceremony at EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (EXPO 2025)

H.E. Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, visited Japan from 16 - 18 August 2025 as official guest of the Government of Japan, to attend EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (EXPO 2025) on the occasion of the Thai National Day of the EXPO 2025. The Deputy Prime Minister was welcomed by H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, and Mr. Akrapong Chalermnon, Consul-General of Thailand in Osaka.

The Deputy Prime Minister presided over the Thai National Day celebration ceremony on 18 August 2025, with H.E. Mr. KATO Akiyoshi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), as the representative of the Government of Japan, delivering the welcoming remarks and hosting a luncheon in honour of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Thai delegation, including Mr. Chayatan Phromsorn, Permanent Secretary for Transport, Mr. Suksit Srichomkwan, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, Dr. Panuwat Panket (M.D.), Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support and Commissioner-General of the Thailand Pavilion, and the senior officials of the Ministry of Public Health, the Royal Thai Embassy, and the Consulate-General Office in Osaka. After the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister and his delegation visited the Japan Pavilion, which showcased Japan’s cutting-edge technologies in sustainable resource circulation under the theme “Between Lives,” and the Thailand Pavilion, which highlighted Thailand’s local wisdom, innovations, and capabilities in health and wellness beyond its boundary into the global stage under the theme “THAILAND Connecting Lives for Greatest Happiness.” Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister and delegation also visited other pavilions at the EXPO 2025, including those of Nepal, the United States Pavilion, Pasona Group, and the Future of Life.

During the visit to Osaka, the Deputy Prime Minister together with the Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs also had a discussion with the Ambassador on ways to promote bilateral relations and cooperation with Japan, including a collaboration to urgently and efficiently address Japan’s concern regarding the issue of Thai overstayers in Japan.
