The Royal Thai Embassy Participated in the 3rd Thai Festival in Sendai

On 27 June 2015, Ambassador Sihasak Phuangketkeow presided over the opening ceremony of the 3rd Thai Festival in Sendai held from 27-28 June 2015 at Koutoudai Kouen ShiminHiroba, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The event was organized by the Sendai, Thai Festival Organizing Committee. Sendai City and Sendai Chamber of Commerce and Industry took the lead role, supported by the Royal Thai Embassy in several ways including an exhibition booth to promote Thai products and culture.

On this occasion, the Ambassador gave an opening speech together with other honourable Japanese guests including Ms. Emiko Okuyama, Sendai Mayor, Mr. Toshihiro Shimizu, Chairman of the Committee. This year, the Royal Thai Embassy exhibited Thai rice and products made from Thai rice, such as traditional Thai sweets. In addition, there was a mobile consular service in order to assist Thai people residing in Miyagi Prefecture and nearby areas.

There were around 48 booths at the festival selling a variety of Thai foods and products and the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways conducted promotions for Thai tourism. Approximate 35,000-40,000 people joined this festival, which was one of the Thai Festivals in Japan that gained a lot of attention from Japanese people; especially people who are living in Sendai and nearby areas.
