2013.05.25-26 The 9th Thai Festival in Nagoya

The Royal Thai Embassy, Tokyo, joined the 9^th Thai Festival in Nagoya during 25-26 May 2013 held by the Thai Festival in Nagoya Organizing Committee.  The event received a part of financial support from the Embassy, which owned its booths in cooperation with Thai offices such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International, to promote Thailand.  The mobile consular services were also arranged in parallel with the event.  Minister Singtong Lapisatepun gave an opening speech together with Japanese honorable guests such as representatives from Yamamori Inc., Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City.

The Royal Thai Embassy booth promoted pomeloes and mangosteens as the Thai fruit showcase.  At the same time, it also gained opinions about Thailand from the guests through questionnaires.  Moreover, Thai costume corner was also opened for photo shoot.  All activities were to encourage the local Japanese to know and understand better about Thailand and its culture.

Mobile consular services were organized by the Embassy consular officials and the Thai Network in Japan (TNJ) volunteers at the Royal Thai Embassy’s booth on 25 May 2013 to assist the Thais residing in Aichi Prefecture and nearby regarding passports, legal documents, and consultation on living in Japan. The Office of Labor in Japan also dispatched an official to provide advice and consultation for Thai workers.

It has been ninth times since the first Thai Festival in Nagoya. The event, organized by the Thai Festival in Nagoya Organizing Committee, with Yamamori Inc. playing the leading role, gradually received more guests every year.  This year alone brought more than 120,000 guests to the site, which accommodated 60 booths selling varieties of Thai food and products.  As a Thai Festival in Japan, the Thai Festival in Nagoya, therefore, gained broad attention as much as those held at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo and in Osaka.
