2013.07.14 Royal Thai Embassy promoted Thai culture at Kanda University of International Studies’ open day

On 14 July 2013, Information and Culture Affairs Department of the Royal Thai Embassy cooperated with Kanda University of International Studies’ in its campus open day, in Chiba Prefecture.   Such opportunity allowed prospective high school students and their parents to experience the atmosphere of the university while receiving information on each department’s curriculum.  Students could also try foreign language classes such as Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, and Spanish, to help them decide on studying foreign languages at the university.  Moreover, the university also organized a “Global Festa” to promote foreign cultures.  Totally 1,000 people visited the university on the day.

In this occasion, Information and Culture Affairs Department of the Royal Thai Embassy provided information on Thailand-Japan relations and a wide range of Thai culture showcases such as Thai fruit carving demonstration, Thai boxing demonstration, Thai sweets exhibition and tasting, garland-making workshop, and Thai alphabet name writing.   The university’s students also performed Thai traditional dance and music.

Kanda University of International Studies has offered Thai language course for 13 years and held annual university-level Thai speech contest for seven times now.  The contest gave students majoring in Thai a stage to show their Thai language ability.
