04/09/2013

On 29 August 2013, Japan-Thailand Association (JTA) and the Royal Thai Embassy jointly organized the annual Evening Cool Party at Gofukubashi Club, Tokyo to enhance the cooperation between the members of JTA, who have connection with Thailand and the officials of the Embassy.  Ambassador Thanatip Upatising and Mr. Teisuke Kitayama, Chairman of JTA, presided over the function together with approximately 200 people who joined the event.

Chairman of JTA and the Ambassador, in their opening speeches, mentioned the development of relationship between and Japan, in particular through the recent Japanese Government’s policy on the exemption of visa for Thai tourists within 15 days to promote tourism and exchange of peoples of the two countries, and for the celebration of the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan at the end of the year.  Ambassador emphasized that the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015 will benefit Japan.  That is, Japan can use Thailand as its base for investment and export as Thailand is located in the centre of the region.  Both speakers reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening the ties of both nations to the future.

The event was also a venue to promote Thai culture through a variety of Thai cuisine and sweets, including Thai traditional music performed by the Embassys Thai musical ensemble.
