On 5 December 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy together with Thai Government Offices in Tokyo organized the reception to celebrate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 86th Birthday Anniversary at Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Over 800 guests including foreign diplomats and representatives from Japanese authorities, private companies, associations and international organizations, jointly celebrated the auspicious occasion. Thai classical dance and music performance, including Thai fruit carving demonstration, were provided to entertain the guests throughout the event.
Ambassador Thanatip Upatising gave an opening speech about the love and reverence that the Thai have for His Majesty the King because of his tireless efforts for His people’s welfare, the long friendship between Thailand and Japan, including further cooperation between ASEAN-Japan having Thailand in the center of the region. At the same time, H.E. Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, former Prime Minister of Japan, also gave a speech on the close ties between the two countries from the Japanese Imperial Family and the Thai Royal Family level and Japan’s recent granting short-term-visa exemption for Thai tourists, which is hoped to lead for more exchange at people level. Ambassador proposed the toast for His Majesty the King and His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
